Moringa, known as miracle tree in India, can be found in the Himalayan foothills. It grows from 10 to 15 meters, and it can live up to 20 years if grown in good conditions. When collecting its leaves and fruits, people cut only 1.5 meter of the branches.

Every part of the Moringa tree is edible, including its leaves, flowers, seeds and the root. The tree was first used as a remedy 1000 years ago. But scientists did not confirm its healing power until 1940.

Indian scientists identified an active ingredient in it that contained strong antibacterial properties. Studies have shown that the Moringa tree can cure more than 300 diseases. It contains 45 antioxidants and more than 90 nutrients.

The list of its health benefits seems to be never-ending. The Moringa tree improves the immune system, regulates blood flow and blood sugar levels, has strong anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties, maintains mental health, and boosts energy.

It is packed with anti-cancer compounds which prevent cancer growth and metastasis. The Moringa tree cleanses the liver and improves its function. An interesting fact is that, when cracked, its seeds can clean polluted water. Experts have proven that the seeds can clear blurry water and destroy any bacteria and clay in the water.

Moringa leaves have the highest nutritional value, when compared to the other parts of the tree. These leaves provide:

  • 125% of the recommended daily intake of calcium
  • 61% of the recommended daily intake of magnesium
  • 41% of the recommended daily intake of potassium
  • 71% of the recommended daily intake of iron
  • 272% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin A
  • 22% of the recommended daily intake of vitamin C

No other food on the planet is packed with such a great number of nutrients. The Moringa tree is rich in nutrients, and it is beneficial for overall health.

Young Moringa fruits are highly valued. Eat them raw or you can prepare them the same way as you would string beans or peas. Ripe fruits should be fried and they taste like peanuts. Moringa fruits are made up of 40% oil, and they can be used in the production of cooking oil, known as Ben oil.

This oil is similar to olive oil. Moringa leaves can be added to different salads. The peel of the fruit can be used as a sunscreen. The flowers are rich in potassium and calcium, and they can be also used as an addition to different dishes.

There is no reason why you should not include Moringa into your diet.
